Charter information (The Stuff you want to know!)

1/2 Day Charters

The 1/2 Day Morning Charter Departs at 5.30AM and returns at 10.30AM.

The 1/2 Day Midday Charter Departs at 11.30AM and returns at 4.30PM.

The 1/2 Day Afternoon Charter Departs at 1.30PM, and returns at 6.30PM.

The 1/2 Day Evening Charter Departs at 3.30PM, and returns at 8.30PM.

A 1/2 Day charter is a great way to experience a little Deep Sea Fishing while still having the majority of the day remaining for other activities.
We recommend this length of trip to those new to Deep Sea Charter Fishing, or those just wanting to get out on the ocean for a few hours and try their hand at a bit of fishing.
The short duration of the charter does of course limit the actual amount of time available for fishing as well as the distance we are able to travel to the fishing locations.
More experienced fishing enthusiasts should strongly consider the full day Charters or even a Mega Day Charter.

3/4 Day Charters

The 3/4 Day Morning Charter Departs at 5.30AM and returns at 12.30PM.

The 3/4 Day Afternoon Charter Departs at 11.30AM and returns at 6.30PM.

A 3/4 Day charter is a great way to experience some Deep Sea Fishing while still having a large portion of the day remaining for other activities.
We recommend this length of trip to those new to Deep Sea Charter Fishing, or those just wanting to get out on the ocean for a few hours and try their hand at a bit more fishing than the 1/2 day charter allows.
The shorter duration of the charter does somewhat limit the actual amount of time available for fishing as well as the distance we are able to travel to the fishing locations.
More experienced fishing enthusiasts should strongly consider the full day Charters or even a Mega Day Charter.

FULL Day Charters

The Full Day Morning Charter Departs is without doubt our most popular charter. It departs at 5.30AM, and returns at 2.30PM.

A Full Day trip is a great way to experience true Deep Sea Fishing.
We recommend this length of trip to the more experienced fishing enthusiasts as well as anyone wanting the best chance to catch that big one.
The additional time we can allow for trawling as well as the distance and locations we are able to reach gives you the best chance to catch your fill!
We even include a fresh lunch for you on our full day trips!

Max/Mega Day fishing Charters

A Max/Mega Day Fishing Charter is THE charter for experienced and enthusiastic fishermen!  It departs at 5.30AM and returns at 4.30PM.

A Max/Mega Day Fishing Charter is the perfect way to experience True Deep Sea Fishing.
We only recommend this length of trip to experienced fishing enthusiasts.
The additional time we can allow for trawling as well as the distance and locations we are able to reach simply offers you opportunities otherwise not possible, and allow you to use your experience to the fullest advantage.
As with the Full day trip, we of course supply a substantial fresh lunch for you, to ensure you can keep going the entire trip!

What is included

All trips are supplied with multiple types of bait (usually including plastics as well if you are interested!), quality rods and reels with a choice of type and size to suit all tastes and needs. And of course loads of ice, soft drinks, water and a light snacks.
We also supply bags to take your catch home in, and can even arrange a “Coollite” box if you have a longer trip ahead of you and no esky to keep the catch cold in during the trip. Just ask the crew.
Although we are not (yet) licensed, you can bring aboard “BYO” alcohol if you want (See “What to Bring” below).
On our Full and Mega/Max Days we include a fresh, light and healthy lunch as well. With plenty to fill every appetite!
And of course we also offer many catering options for your party or corporate event.
Just call us to discuss your needs.

What to bring

Aside from yourself and an enthusiastic approach, we recommend you bring sunscreen, a hat, a light jacket for cooler days, and enclosed shoes (fish-hooks and feet are apparently natural enemies!), and of course any medication(s) you may possibly need - including sea sick tablets.
Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture all of your amazing experiences so you can relive them again and again.
Feel free to bring your own alcoholic beverages and food if you wish.
The only requirement is NO GLASS BOTTLES please.
This is purely for your own safety as glass isn't great when dropped once that big fish takes your line and excitement takes over.
Being up to 25 miles out to sea with a bleeding wound from a stubby is no fun for anyone!

What to expect

A member of our staff meets all of our guests upon arrival. Once everyone has checked in they will escort you to our vessel.
After boarding you will be introduced to our exceptional crew who will be taking care of you for your entire fishing adventure.
Following the legally required safety briefing we will be on our way.

The skipper will take you to some of the best trawling locations available on the Sunshine Coast where we will target wahoo, tuna, mackerel, dolphin fish, marlin and swordfish. This is done on trawling rigs that are already prepared by our crew. When we get a bite, the crew will hand over the rod to anyone that has expressed interest in being involved allowing you to jump in and reel in that big catch. Just be prepared for the most exhilarating fight of your life as you battle these hard-fighting, high-flying pelagic giants.

On the way to the first fishing location the crew will "shoot" the crab traps to await hauling at the end of the day. With the Crusader 1's professional equipment and experienced crew shooting the traps will not slow us down one bit.  We have the license to use "trot-lines" which is exactly how the full time professionals catch these tasty critters, so its a great way to see how your seafood actually is caught.

At the first fishing location the crew is ready to assist you in anything you need. Whether you need help baiting your hook, casting, or reeling, or if you just need someone to gaff that big catch of yours, our crew is ready for anything. We provide you with light snacks, water and soft drinks. We also have espresso coffee upon request for a small fee.

Where possible, during the charter the skipper will try to take you to several different fishing spots before heading back to shore with your catch.

The crew will clean and tag and bag your legal catches for you to take with you at the end of the day, or you can of course release them if that is your preference.

On the return trip we will stop momentarily to retrieve the crab traps set on the way out. With the large commercial hauling system on Crusader 1, hauling the traps is a breeze. Passengers usually enjoy helping empty the traps and sorting the docile spanner crabs (not required by any means!), and on a good day you can expect up to 100 crabs or more per trip. On board we also have a professional, gas powered, crab cooker ,which the crew will use to cook the crabs right on board as we cruise back to shore. In just a few short minutes you will literally be eating the freshest crab possible.

Once back at Mooloolaba Marina, we will help you unload your fish, as well as your share of the spanner crabs.

We will even demonstrate how to best clean and prepare the spanner crabs so that you are certain to enjoy them! Then you will be on your way to enjoy your fresh catch and discuss your fishing adventure at length with everyone.

And remember, they are called “Fishing stories” for a reason!!
