Saturday May 19: The dredge seems to be doing a brilliant job. They have doubled the depth in the actual mouth area already and removed most of the sandbar blocking the entrance to the river. Its quite amazing how quickly this machine and crew are able to make an impact on the situation there. And they are also excellent in regards to radio communication to keep the boat traffic moving as best as possible. A big two thumbs up to them! As for the weather conditions for today, the swell should continue to subside, and the wind is really no longer of any real concern. The boat is out on a 9hour Sunrise charter and we expect an excellent day of fishing for all on board.
The rest of the weekend looks great also. The weather pattern for calm wind, minimal swell and the likelihood of showers will set in for a while. Certainly not bad for fishing. If anything, it is better for that in fact. Combine the dropping water temps with a bit less sunshine , and not too smooth a surface, and the crabbing is far less affected by the turtle population, plus the fish become far more active without straying too far from their protective areas. So far none of the forecast showers have actually eventuated, but no doubt we will see some soon, The winds forecast for the next 7 days are in the 10 to 15 knot range which can add to a slightly larger swell size if it does indeed stay at that level for a prolonged period of time. However as always, these wind forecast change with each update. Overall I think we have now actually entered the "winter fishing season" from a weather pattern perspective. (finally). Regardless of the forecast levels, conditions are most likely going to be mainly a little swell, sunny

Easter Weekend April 2012 - It seemed like ages that we have seen the perfect weather that the Sunshine Coast is named after, but it was on full show for the long Easter break! With a charter or 2 each day, our customers took full advantage of the respite in the weather, and theresults were certainly worth the wait. Although no extreme sized fish were actually hauled in (a few did get away I am told) the variety and quality was certainly showing that the fish are coming backl to the area in force! It has been a long time since we have caught a Pigfish, but a very good sized one was caught on Sunday. One of the best tasting fish to catch, the smile appeared permanently etched of the face of the lucky fisherman! Of course a lot of other spiecies were caught including Snapper, Trevally, Fusilier, Hussar, Coral Perch, Maori Cod, Parrot Fish,Tuskies, and the ever present Bream. As soon as possible we will have the weekends picture uploaded as well.

Sunday Mar 18, 2012. We are hard at work getting Crusader 1 ready for our first true sunset & evening fishing charter. The response from our customers has been nothing short of overwhelming in response to this type of charter, and the first one, scheduled for the 25th of March, booked out within 2 hours of being scheduled! If the late afternoon charters are any indication, the fishing should be spectacular on these charters! about an hour before sunset is when we see the fish really coming "on the bite" and I am told that this normally continues to be the case well into the evening. Of course the late afternoon charters tend to leave the fishing grounds just as the action really gets underway. No doubt much to the disappointment of those on board at the time. It is for this exact reason we are incorporating the Sunshine Coasts first dedicated Sunset evening Fishing charters. No need to take the entire vessel to get out there. As long as the passenger numbers and the weather conditions allow we will head out just as we do for our "normal" Sunrise charters. If you really love your fishing, keep an eye on this site for more dates for these unique charter offerings!!
