Friday January 27 (PM): As mentioned this morning, we had thought we would be able to get out this morning. We ended up not proceeding as most customers were too concerned the forecasts may not be correct. PIt certainly would not have been the best day out in hindsight, but still far better than Saturday is shaping up at present!
Saturday charters are now officially cancelled. The wind has already increased massively in strength, and is forecast to increase further. The swell is also set to increase again in size making any real fishing near impossible.
Sunday isn't looking that much better. Although the wind is expected the decline again, I doubt the swell will do so sufficiently as well. A big change is needed for us to be confident of being able to head out.

Tuesday Jan 11, 2011 - We had a 7 hour (3/4 AM) charter out today. Mixed results with the passengers that were experienced in deep sea fishing doing ok, but those out for the first time struggling. The weather conditions, although pleasant enough from a comfort level, made fishing tough. The swell, wind and tide all combined in the same direction to make it difficult to hit the areas with the lines, and even for the fish to take the bait in time. Pilchards in particular did not stay on the hooks very long in the conditins, so most fish caught were through slimies (makerel) or squid.

Monday Jan 9 2011. The weather has conspired against us fish lovers today. Although the conditions are far from dangerous, the combination of high winds and choppy swell would make for a very unpleasant day in all but the most sheltered of areas. Not the type of conditions we like to send our customers out in. Looking forward to the change tomorrow.
